Based on a global survey of over 2,400 researchers, the ExplanAItions 2025 report shows that AI use in research has surged in just one year. Adoption is widespread, but depth of impact is constrained by limited access to specialist tools, growing concerns about accuracy, ethics, and data security, and a lack of institutional guidance. Researchers report clear efficiency gains yet are recalibrating expectations of AI’s capabilities. The findings highlight a critical opportunity for publishers and institutions to provide trusted tools, training, and transparent frameworks to enable responsible, transformative AI use in research.
This seminar will cover the main findings of the ExplanAItions 2025 report, practical, shared experience with AI as an Editor in Chief, as well as the do’s and don’ts of AI use for authors, editor and reviewers.
A Q&A will allow space to explore experiences further, including the overall publishing process and tips for success.

13:30 to 14:00h: Making Food Policy Work - Practical Tools for Rural Implementation
This session presents a practical set of tools designed to help translate food policy objectives into clearer implementation decisions in rural agrifood systems. Although food policies increasingly recognise the need for integrated approaches, implementation often weakens when coordination across actors, scales and local realities remains unclear. Through concise applied methods, the session will explore how sequencing, actor coordination and operational clarity can help maintain coherence between policy intent and delivery.
